A new piano has been made that allows users to change the pitch of each key before or while they are playing. I think the inventer's name is Geoff Smith. This new instrument can make some interesting sounds.

I'm sure it can, and it probably helps some musicians. I may be old-fashioned, but I have to admit, I like the piano as it is. Changing the pitch like that seems almost to be cheating. It saves the musician the work of transposing a piece on their own. I guess that works for some, but I admire the intelligence it takes to do it yourself.

I am finding this topic to be of interest. SisterDawn, for more so the musical artist who plays as it were by the book, following the expressed notes of another musical artist then Yes, you point proves true {in my personal thots}. There are the gret musical pieces that are considered Classics & thusly should be so handled.

Then, regarding Deadnight Warrior, the idea of changing the pitch of each key before a person is given to play the piano or even while in the midst of playing, well, to me this would seem ideal a situation to the creative musical artist who doesn't play so much by the pre-recorded note, for rather the one who as my mother used to say, "some people play by ear & not by note."

lol, this would work really well for me, as I prefer to compose my own music as I play it instead of writing my ideas down and playing them later.
